We are a Family Law / Divorce law firm, however:

 

Thompson Legal Assistance can also provide assistance in the areas of: Trusts, Wills, and Estate Planning. We also help with administrative appeals and judicial review of unfavorable agency actions. Other issues or concerns are also welcome. 

 

We provide unbundled legal servicing. Thru these services, you are able to decide which specific services you need and which services you can take on for yourself, saving you money. We'll show you a list of services for your specific case and then you decide which ones to assign to us and which ones you are willing to do for yourself.

 

The law office may also accept some Contractual Law work, some Employment Law issues, and Business Planning as well as providing Research and Scrivener Services to other attorneys and pro se (self-represented) litigants.

Thompson Legal Assistance is devoted to helping families deal with emotionally stressful relationship issues. The law office focuses on Divorce litigation and planning, with a goal toward amicable resolutions.

 

We also provide legal help in child custody; work in domestic restraining orders; and, domestic violence cases.

 

Our law firm always treats you fairly and honestly. We make every attempt to resolve disputes with the ultimate goal of peaceful solutions. We will fight hard for you but remember that fairness dictates that sometimes the best result might not be you winning everything. We do not bully or act disrespectfully toward other parties (so please don't ask us to do this).

 

We will always treat you and your issues with great respect. We will give you our best advice, even if this means being upfront about some things you might not want to hear. Honesty is our policy.

Wills, Trusts, and Estate Planning.

Thompson Legal Assistance offers a wide range of services within this area of practice. The law firm takes a client-centered approach in creating tailored and appropriate work products. We draft last wills and testaments for a variety of estates. In some cases we perform probate administration. You are invited to read our Newsletter on the basics of Wills for a greater understanding.

 

We also draft Trust documents, both stand-alone trusts and those part of a Last Will. We provide you with all the options, you decide which and how to proceed. Almost anything can be accomplished in a Trust, with some exceptions. We will not dictate the how to you, you tell us what you want. We can help you through the entire process or simply provide some advice on a sample you bring to us. Read our Newsletter on Iowa Trusts for some great information.  

 

As part of our practice, we appreciate that you may have some multiple concerns or issues. We provide estate planning which seeks to give you the advantage of multiple solutions. We empower you to review and decide upon what option or options will serve you best.
